History Lesson of the Month!

From Upper Lodge to Fellowship Lodge

One of the earliest buildings at Krislund was the Upper Lodge which stands at the end of the
long road through the camp. It is in a beautiful location, allowing for quiet evenings where one
can listen to the whippoorwills sing and perhaps see a deer or two. For campers the lodge, in
addition to being a rustic meeting place, provided bathroom facilities for those who resided in the
four cabins surrounding the building.
In 2009, the Krislund Board was seeking ways to make the accommodations more
attractive to adults who might come for retreats and group gatherings. Kevin Lloyd, a member
of the State College Presbyterian Church, was an active volunteer at that time agreed to take on
the project of helping with the construction of comfortable accommodations connected to the
Upper Lodge.
During that time members of the State College church had been helping to build camper cabins
and Rev. Barry and Linda Vance had been volunteering regularly focusing on other maintenance
tasks. At Kevin’s request, they all agreed to help with the construction of the new facilities.
Little did they know just how massive that project would be!
Throughout the winter, spring, summer and fall of 2010, many volunteers gathered to construct
what is now Fellowship Lodge. For the complete story, click here.

Staff for Summer 2023!

Krislund is looking for staff for Summer 2023! If you know a young person (age 17+) who is looking for a fantastic summer experience, please refer them to Krislund! All Summer staff receive:

• Three American Red Cross Certifications
• Question, Persuade, Refer Certification
• Facilitation, leadership, communication, and instructional experience
• Networking opportunities and lifelong friendships
• Lodging, meals, and weekly salary

Register for an Alumni Event Today!

As we progress toward Summer, Krislund needs the assistance of volunteers and alumni to prepare for another year of campers and guests! Alumni Week is for any Krislund alumnus who wants to work hard, catch up with old friends, and have tons of fun doing it. Come out for the whole week or just a few hours to give back to the camp that has given so much to you!

Come join us at Nittany Valley Country Club! All proceeds go into our Camper Scholarship Fund to help any and all kids come and experience camp at Krislund no matter what their financial situation is. 

Join us for Centre Gives!

Centre Gives is almost here again! May 10th and 11th you have a chance to support Krislund through the 36-hour online giving event that is being hosted by Centre Foundation. The event starts at 8am on May 10 and finishes at 8pm May 11th. Every donation that is sent in goes further due to the generous stretch pools. Centre Gives also offers a number of unique prizes, the most common being power hours, where the organization with the most individual donors during that hour wins an additional cash prize. Be on the lookout as we get closer on which prizes Krislund will be trying to get!
